Imagine Cup Software Design Local Finals

In March 2012, Microsoft Philippines is embarking on an exciting voyage to the farthest reaches of innovation. The MICROSOFT INNOVATION UNIVERSE is a 3-day event that will bring together the country’s IT community as well as top and up-and-coming innovators – from technical decision makers and business decision makers, to developers, IT professionals, students and enthusiasts.

Part of this event, is Imagine Cup, the world’s premier student technology competition, where student innovators come together to solve problems through technology.

Last year, over 325,000 students from 100 countries take part in the competition but only a few are selected to compete in the final round. After 2 rigorous rounds of competition, 2 teams from the Philippines were chosen to represent the country in the World Finals in New York, USA last July 2011.

This year, the competition gets more exciting as we are hosting a Local Finals as part of the Microsoft Innovation Universe on March 23, 2012. The Imagine Cup Local Finals highlights are as follows:

  • Keynote from Microsoft – “Solving the World’s Toughest Problems”

  • Sponsor Activation – Dell l Nokia l Accenture l Lenovo

  • Software Design Local Finals – Team Presentations

  • Student Innovation Showcase

    • Software Design

    • Game Design – Xbox/Windows

    • Windows Phone Applications

    • Kinect Fun Labs

    • Windows Azure Applications

  • Free Microsoft Developer and Designer Tools will be given out to early bird student and faculty attendees

  • Exciting items and prizes will also be raffled out throughout the day

The winning team for the Software Design Category will have the honor of representing our country in the World Finals to be held in Sydney Australia on July 2012.

And this year, we’re inviting students and faculty to be a part this historic voyage and get inspiration for their future school projects by taking part in this whole day showcase of local innovations.
