Media group condemns the curtailment of press freedom by SM Mall of Asia management yesterday.

398960_215627918551916_100003141273236_356856_315944168_n

Media rights group, Burgos Media Center strongly expresses its condemnation over curtailment of press freedom by SM Mall of Asia Administration in yesterday’s rally staged by the militant youths, residents of Silverio Compound, Parañaque City and members of the media in an anti-demolition and anti-tree cutting rally yesterday at SM Mall of Asia.

On the said event, members of the mainstream and alternative media were repeatedly stopped from covering the dispersal. Cameras by the press and civilians were being shoved and covered. A photographer's lens was also reportedly shattered. There were reports that Security guards of the Mall used a large black cloth to hide the violent dispersal being done and to avoid the passersby and commuters.

SM management should be accountable on their actions. What they did yesterday is obviously an act of censorship, an act of violence and an act of Suppression of freedom of expression.” said Marc Joseph Alejo, Spokesperson of Burgos Media center.

Besides from uprooting the 182 trees in Luneta hill to erect a parking lot in SM Baguio, SM management plans to demolish the house of some 25,000 to 28,000 families in Silverio Compound to pave the way for a new condominium of the SM Development Corporation. SM also plans to build a floating casino at Freedom Island which is the sole bird sanctuary in Metro Manila and a place of livelihood for the fishermen along the coastline of Manila Bay.

“Based on their actions yesterday, the SM management seems to be so desperate in expanding their corporate madness to the extent that even suppress the freedom of the press for the sake of profit”  Alejo Added

“They need to be reminded that no one can uproot the truth.  SM should not try to ampatuanize the of power of press freedom and the people” Alejo ended

The Top 5 Rogue Cyber lockers Receive 41 Billion page views yearly

alperry_270x320

Alfred Perry, vice president of worldwide antipiracy for Paramount Pictures... appeared on a panel during the On Copyright conference at Columbia University.

Perry told attendees that the studios "continue to make criminal referrals" to authorities regarding "rogue" cyberlockers. He also said that some sites that enable piracy are often operated by criminal gangs that oversee multiple criminal enterprises. After the panel, he gave... a list of the sites the studios consider rogue: Putlocker, Wupload, Depositfiles, FileServe, and MediaFire.

rogue1_610x442

Later he added that "more than 41 billion page views (yearly) are generated by the top 5 rogue cyberlocker services. That's five page views for every person on the planet."

His comments...are consistent with what my film-industry sources have told since MegaUpload founder Kim DotCom was tossed in a New Zealand jail in January. There's no question that the film studios and major music labels want more arrests made and to link some forms of Internet piracy to criminal conduct.

The MPAA's antipiracy unit played a big role in helping to inform the U.S. Department of Justice about MegaUpload's operations when the DOJ first began investigating the company in 2010.

The arrest of DotCom and shut down of MegaUpload certainly sent a message to some of the company's competitors. The blog TorrentFreak reported that soon after the raid on DotCom's home, about nine similar services attempted to limit the amount of pirated content on their sites, and several others shut down completely.

Adobe will launch Creative Suite 6 (CS6), the next version of its market-leading digital media software, next week in San Francisco, along with its new Web-based subscription service, Creative Cloud.

The April 23 event, to be hosted by Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, will also be streamed over the Web beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on Adobe's launch site. The presentation will be available later for replay at tv.adobe.com.

adobe-cs6-creative-suite-macworld-australia

Adobe has already released extensive details of Creative Cloud. What it hasn’t discussed is pricing beyond a standard US$50 per month fee and how it’ll implement the service for teams, though this is due later this year.

Adobe is not allowed by law to add features to one-time purchased software, but the Creative Cloud model doesn't have this restriction, so subscribers will get new features periodically without needing a full program update. It will also include syncing of your work in the apps between multiple devices, 20GB of cloud storage, Adobe Business Catalyst site hosting, and thousands of Web-based fonts.

In addition to the product launches, Adobe will "unveil new primary research on the impact of creativity on our culture and economy, and reveal new initiatives that encourage creativity in education," according to the company.

Winner of the red dot product design award 2012: Sennheiser’s Xbox® headset wins prestigious award

Copenhagen, 4 March 2012: The X 320 Xbox® headset in Sennheiser’s gaming series wins the prestigious 2012 red dot design award for combining an attractive design with superb sound, comfort and user-friendliness.

Audio specialist Sennheiser has found the formula once again for combining great looks and sound: the Xbox® gaming headset, which has just been honored with the 2012 red dot design award. Details like the smooth surface and green aluminum ring, as well as the great sound and comfort, convinced the independent jury of 30 international experts that the X 320 is product design at its finest.

X 320 - Shoot 3

This year, more than 4,500 applicants from over 58 countries and regions competed for the red dot in the product design category, the world’s largest design award competition.

“We’re thrilled and honored that the jury has chosen to recognize our product design. Especially since we were up against a lot of amazing products. This establishes the X 320 as the headset for the Xbox®,” says Oliver Berger, Global Design Manager at Sennheiser.

Nederst pÃ¥ formularen“Our goal with the X 320 was to make a gaming headset that excels in sound, comfort and design. We don’t take shortcuts on quality, so the headsets are engineered in our own sound labs and manufactured at Sennheiser facilities right here in Europe,” says Product Manager Christian Ern.

X 320: More than just good looks

The X 320 is more than just good looks. Made for home gamers who seek both quality and style, the amplified sound and bass boost make the gaming experience more intense. A dual volume control is located on the cable and allows users to independently adjust the sound levels of the game and the conversation with fellow gamers. Furthermore, a professional noise canceling microphone ensures crystal-clear speech.

In addition to developing outstanding design and gaming sound, Sennheiser has also managed to make the X 320 very comfortable. This is a result of the open-acoustic design that keeps the head cool for hours of gaming, as well as Sennheiser-patented CircleFlex™ ear cups. They allow the ear pads to rotate and adjust automatically to the head, making the game experience a comforting thrill.

The X 320 is available worldwide at a recommended retail price of EUR 99. Like the entire range of Sennheisers products, the X 320 is built to last and comes with Sennheiser’s two-year worldwide warranty.

Michael Fassbender: Engineered Android in “Prometheus 3D”

123_jc_216_v0106_right.1011

One of the fastest-rising stars in the business, the 34 year-old German-born, Irish-raised Fassbender has wowed multiplex and arthouse audiences alike over the past couple of years with searing, indelible turns in the likes of “Hunger,” “X-Men: First Class,” “Inglourious Basterds” and “Shame,” which saw him reunite with Steve McQueen. A passionate, instinctive actor, who better than Fassbender to breathe humanity into David’s cold hard exterior in the highly anticipated sci-fi adventure “Prometheus (3D)”?

From Ian Holm’s duplicitous Ash to Lance Henriksen’s dependable Bishop, androids have played a huge part in the Alien franchise. So it’s not a huge surprise to find that Prometheus also has an artificial humanoid on board its eponymous spaceship, in the blond-haired guise of Michael Fassbender’s David.

The character of David represents Prometheus' “company man.” An androgynous android with personality defects, David is the eyes and ears of the Weyland Corporation that funds the Prometheus mission.

043_fe_105_v0021_right.1070r

Fassbender in the following q&a shares his take on humanity, working with Ridley Scott and Prometheus’ weighty themes.

Q: Who is Dav-eed?

A: He’s the robot. Or humanoid. Or android. Or whatever you want to call it. He’s like a butler. The first thing I wanted to do with him was to make him ambiguous. Should he be having emotions? I wanted to keep it ambiguous and have a lot of fun with it and enjoy it. I don’t know if that’s an easy description, but there’s so much comedy in him, actually, that I wanted to try to explore that as much as I could.

MIchael Fassbender_Prometheus

Q: Comedy? Even in an intense film like this?

A: Think Buster Keaton. Yesterday I kept banging my head off the screen on the ship and tripped over something else, and it was like a Buster Keaton moment! I also like the idea of treating him as a child, in certain respects. He’s been on this ship for two and a half years before everybody comes out of cryo-stasis.

092_se_220_v0143_right.1335

Q: What does he do in that time?

A: He studies things, he watches films. There’s various things he soaks up. He’s been studying what Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) have come up with through their findings and research and the language that he thinks they [the Engineers] would speak, he’s been practicing that.

Q: Is David dangerous?

A: I think he knows his limits. He’ll know his limits when he gets there. Limit doesn’t exist for him. He will go until the point when he can’t go any further, physically. He doesn’t think about people’s suffering that much. He has an empathy and he’s developed that. But he’s more curious, like a child burning ants with a magnifying glass. There’s a cruelty there for sure, but it’s almost before a child comprehends cruelty. He does things for an end result.

But I don’t think he has any real moral compass. There’s something about him. He’s quite chuffed with himself. He’s very full of himself and he thinks he has most of the answers. In human company, he feels far superior.

s050ep_120_publicityStill_comp2k_v04.1070

Q: It is a film about creators and their relationship with their creations.

A: It’s about how the human beings are desperate in various ways to face this knowledge and get the answers to their questions, and not getting the answers to their questions. He’s never really been accepted and I think he does want to be accepted, very much so. But they always have that differential - we made you because we could. What’s interesting about him is that I do think this thing has been designed to behave like a human, but on a superior level, but it’s interesting that human personality traits start to bleed into the robot.

Q: Can you talk about the big ideas that are being tackled here?

A: What is the purpose of us being here? That’s the underlying question of the human race. That is why people are searching for heaven and for God, or Gods, as it was before. Why? There must be some purpose for us to be here, right? And that’s being explored in the film.

Q: Were you aware of the Prometheus myth?

A: I was. I do enjoy the greek classics and ancient history. The liver getting pecked away every night is a nasty affair, really.

067_fn_090_v0009_right.1181

Q: How does that tie in to the film?

A: Perhaps the fact that we keep going round in a circle, maybe that’s it. It’s a cyclical thing. There’s no resolution to the end of it, perhaps. It’s an ongoing quest.

Watch David more of David in “Prometheus (3D)” when it opens June 7 in theaters nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Kamikazee is now 'Romantico'

romantiko

Kamikazee, with their signature onstage antics and witty songs, has established itself to be one of the hottest rock bands of this generation, yielding numerous hits like "Narda," "Tsinelas," "Chicksilog," "First Day High," among others. For their fourth album "Romantico," the rock band goes extremely personal with songs that re-tell their love experiences.

"What makes this album special is that all the songs here are expression of our experiences and the stories of people around us," says drummer Allan “Bords” Burdeos. "It is an album very close to us as these songs represent parts of who we are now."

Frontman Jay Contreras adds, “Para siyang kuwento ng mga taong, umibig, umiibig, iniwan, nasaktan, at umibig ulit.

Kamikazee considers this album special because this is the first time that they had agreed on the album’s theme even before the collection of songs was written.

The band added that usually the songs come first before they think of an album concept, but for “Romantico,” it is clear to them that they want to tackle love as its central theme.
The album's first single "Halik" talks about love grown tired, expressed in Kamikazee’s signature sound.
When asked whose story that was, Bords quickly replied, "secret!"

Other standout tracks are “TNT,” “Tamis,” “Tagpuan,” “Sana,” “Sobrang lungkot,” “Kislap,” “Wo-oh,” “If You’re Not Here,” “Paano,” and “Huling Sayaw.”

“Romantico” comes after the hit albums “Kamikazee,” “Maharot,” and “Long Time Noisy.”

Formed in 2000, the band is composed of Jay Contreras on vocals, Jomal Linao on guitars and backing vocals, Led Tuyay on guitars, Puto Astete on bass and Bords Burdeos.

  1. Halik
  2. TNT

  6. Sobrang Lungkot

Andy Strachwsky a lighting specialist and a professional retoucher for many years taught photography, lighting and retouching workshops around the world including Colombia, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Ireland, Germany, England, Spain, Canada, Singapore, Honk Kong, Malaysia and the United States. He also did a workshop for a company called creativeLIVE which was transmitted LIVE globally over the Internet with thousands of viewers.

During the tour Andy will conduct a seminar intended for the beginning to intermediate photographer. Professional lighting adviser and retoucher Andy Strachwsky from unknownphotographer.net will go over the basics that you need to take your photography to the next level. His simplistic, laid back and real approach to photography is a refreshing breath of air in this industry that is polluted with marketing. Andy will go over everything you truly need to be able to take the photographs you want. He will be talking gear, lighting, composition and how to further yourself in the industry. If you are just starting out and you feel like you don’t know where to go, join us for this one of a kind photography seminar!

He will also conduct different levels of photographic and post-processing workshops.  Begins by understanding the dynamics of light, explore complicated multi light scenarios using a variety of modifiers. Andy will also cover the topics of color and light, as well as balancing different temperature lights. The whole workshop will feature a high fashion workflow with a heavy lean towards posing and communication with models and pre-visualization as well as a complete understanding of the physics of light with special participation of our very own Top Fashion Photographer Richard Chen, FHM Philippines Beauty & Glamour Photographer Borj Meneses and International Designer & Stylist Don Cristobal.
