"Opinion Leaders" is a weekly talk show hosted by William Thio on Global News Network (GNN) that brings public awareness and expert perspective to current issues and topics in social responsibility and social causes in the diverse fields of medicine, law, business, the environment, and self-sufficiency, among many others.
“Opinion Leaders” aims to educate viewers using relevant taped segments that subsequently lead to one-on-one, group, or multi-guest exploratory discussion. However, unlike in most talk shows, questions are kept to an accessible level while answers are always explained with the objective of Everyman understanding.
As a result, we hope viewers will be encouraged to learn further about the social causes and issues we try to bring awareness to, reach out to the community at large, and moreover, empower others to do the same as our titular "Opinion Leaders" who are at the forefront in today's universe of social media especially. We can now all be OPINION LEADERS.
Although “Opinion Leaders” is only in its Freshmen season (premiered January 4, 2011), our past episodes have covered hard-hitting topics pulled from the headlines, including unwed mothers, unwanted pregnancies, and abandoned babies, celebrities and social causes, being Tsinoy/Chinese in the Philippines (Chinese New Year’s Special), surviving breast cancer, global climate change, and global youth leadership training with international internships for Filipino students, to name a few.
We have worked with the following highly visible organizations to produce episodes that bring light to their respective missions: Operation Smile, Red Cross, Grace to Be Born Shelter, I Can Serve, World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, AISEC, and World Vision, among many others.
"Opinion Leaders" airs on Global News Network (GNN) Channel 8 on Global Destiny Cable and Channel 1 on G/SAT every Saturday primetime at 9pm. Past episodes are also regularly posted on YouTube, Veoh, and Facebook.

We will also be launching an online magazine blog called “Opinion Leaders” in April 2011 that will provide more extensive coverage of topics covered on our show.
Our Host
Host William Thio has over half a decade of experience in news as the Monday evening news anchor at RPN and social responsibility programming with Public Service shows like "Damayan" and "@ Ur Serbis." The prior is especially synonymous with William since it was created for his great aunt, the legendary Rosa Rosal, from whom William had taken the reins. "Opinion Leaders," in a way, is the spiritual successor of "Damayan" but with a modern "Web 3.0" twist on GNN.
William is also a familiar face locally and internationally with TV commercial and print ad campaign credits that include Jollibee, Close-Up, Vaseline Shampoo, Honda Civic (Vietnam), Nissan, Old Spice, Alaska, and Decolgen (Indonesia), among many others.
Our Audience
“Opinion Leaders” is most popular with the much-desired demographic of males and females, 18-24 as well as 25-34. These young professionals are socially aware and active when it comes to politics, business, environment, and culture. They have the disposable income whether they are still in school or settling into new careers to support social causes. Furthermore, they are very active in social media, spreading the word about social causes. Our key viewer cities are Makati and Quezon City.
Our Viewership
“Opinion Leaders” airs on Global News Network (GNN), a Philippine-based dedicated news and public affairs channel that airs on the second largest cable TV company in the Philippines, Global Destiny Cable and Global Satellite TV (GSAT). While we cover Metro Manila and the rest of the nation (see “Areas Covered” below), we also proudly broadcast to Asian nations like North Korea, South Korea, China, Mongolia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Well-aware of this fact, “Opinion Leaders” tries to cover topics of relevance to other Asian countries.
