NBA FIT 2011: TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN THE PHILIPPINES

NBA FIT is the league's global comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families through programs and events.  

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced the return-of NBA FIT in the Philippines from July 25-Aug. 7, 2011 in the entire Metro Manila.  The 2011 Philippines program will see an expanded schedule following the success of last year’s inaugural event. The expanded program will lead by Filipino-American Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra.

This years NBA FIT Philippines will be two-week program fully endorsed by the Philippines Department of Health (DOH).  Their aim is to educate individuals and families on the physical, mental and emotional benefits of healthy living, as well as motivating and inspiring kids and adults to live healthier lives through a variety of events and activities.

It will include:

• NBA FIT Clinics - FREE sessions for students and the general public to be held at various schools and malls
• NBA FIT Development Camp - Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra and Assistant Coach Dave Fizdale will lead a special NBA-style basketball camp for elite athletes of the Energen Philippine Under-16 National Team 
• Celebrity NBA FIT Challenge - 16 celebrities will take the challenge
• NBA FIT Fun Run presented by Air21 - co-organized by the NBA and RunRio to be held at August 7, 2011 at the Fort Bonifacio Global City
